  • Name: Daan
  • Birth sign: Very much a virgo.
  • Nationality: Belgian
  • Best thing about where you are from? The great melting pot of cultures and influence in music, subcultures, filmmaking... etc throughout the last 40 years. I feel very at home and inspired being constantly surrounded by young people unpretentiously creating and collaborating - which comes quite natural in such a small country as Belgium.
  • What do you do besides modelling? I'm not doing an actual study or other job besides modeling for the moment but I've always been very curious and Interested in a multitude of things so I do a little of my own studying through the internet or movies and books.
  • Do you have any hobbies? Photography / image making has been quite a big pasion for me the past years, I just started taking pictures around the time I began modelling which was/is a constant flow of inspiration.
  • What was your dream job as a kid? That answer changed a lot during my childhood, but archeologist was always on top of the list. Once I told my mom at 7 year old that my dream job would to be retired; always had a big fascination and connection with elderly people.
  • Favourite Animal: Four-Horned Jacob Sheep.
  • Favourite Food: Bread and cheese.
  • If you could invite anyone for dinner, who would you ask? Gaspar Noe, Gandhi and Werner Herzog.
  • Favourite spot in the world: 'La Favorite' in Paris.
  • Best trip you've made so far? Shooting in the desert in Tuscon, Arizona was very surreal.
  • If you could go anywhere on holiday, where would you go? Why? I would love to visit Georgia (the country), a friend of mine lives there and everything she has told me about the nature and the people speaks to me a lot.
  • Guilty Pleasure: Cleaning the house at night while dancing.
  • What book would you recommend for others to read? "And The Ass Saw The Angel" by Nick Cave.
  • Do you have any hidden talents? I make some really great soup!
  • What is your favourite season? And Why? Late summer / autumn, around that time there are lots of storms but the weather is still warm, I love that combination.
  • The song that gets me dancing is... 'Dance The Way I Feel'
  • What is your favourite musical era? Late 70s/ early 80s.
  • Best concert you went to? Concert most looking forward to? Seeing Patti Smith in Berlin was something I'll never forget, the concerts I love the most are from Triggerfinger, a Belgian band that has the most amazing live sound.
  • What are your top 3 Instagram accounts to follow? "thisispattismith" (Patti Smith), 'nickcaveandthebadmemes', 'inkaliston' (Bryan Liston)
  • If your life was a song, what would the title be? Oops!.. I Did It Again.
  • If you could have any animal as your pet, what would you choose? Goats and sheep, lot's of them.
  • If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be? Being a bit more careless and relaxed once in a while.
  • How do you keep a positive attitude in an industry that can be difficult to navigate through? Making sure to have certain periods of rest at home to integrate everything you experience and to talk about them with people you're close to gives space to be grateful and positive. After doing this for few years you also learn how to set you own limits and boundaries as to not end up being overwhelmed and lost.
  • How would you describe your personal style, Fashion-wise? A cowboy who loves vintage designer clothes.
  • If you could own an art piece what would you choose? Some Bauhaus furniture.
  • What is the first thing you will save in a fire? My big box full of negatives and prints.
  • What's the last thing you thought about before you went to sleep last night? "Is it 6 am already?"
  • For what in your life do you feel most grateful? Having been able to travel and meet people that I feel connected with regardless of age, background or how often I see them.
  • What is the greatest accomplishment of your life? Being able to be independent, financially as well as in the way I live and think.
  • What do you value most in a friendship? Communication and vulnerability.
  • What is your biggest dream? Having a small country house in the middle of nowhere with a bunch of animals, a big garden to grow my own food and an old 70s motorcycle
  • What is worth rebelling against today? Toxic masculinity & bad fashion sense.
